Daman (däm&adot_;n), n. (Zoöl.) A small herbivorous mammal of the genus Hyrax. The species found in Palestine and Syria is Hyrax Syriacus; that of Northern Africa is Hyrax Brucei; -- called also ashkoko, dassy, and rock rabbit. See Cony, and Hyrax.
