RABINOVITCH-BARAKOVSKYTHE TANTRIC COUPLING RITUAL"MAITHUNA" (October 2005)Sinfonia concertante for orchestraThe significance of the "Maithuna" ritual in Hinduism and Tantric Buddhism is ambivalent. On one hand, it can mean the sexual ritual during which the woman is deified by her partner and the sexual act thus takes on a sacred connotation. On the other hand, this deification of the woman can also happen virtually with the "inner woman", which forms an integral part of the man's psyche as an androgynous entity. According to some oriental traditions, the woman is the one possessing the energy reserves, the vital forces that the man lacks and without which he remains creatively inert. In Shivaism, the god Shiva is usually represented embracing his feminine part, his Shakti, thanks to whom he becomes the active, dynamic and omnipotent being.One can also observe that many cosmogonic narratives from various traditions tell of the coupling between the mythical sky and earth. The ritual couplings between the great priestess and the great priest on top of the ziggurats in Sumer or the Temple of the Sky in China only repeated the first founding gesture of the Earth-Sky couple, a sort of celebration of the return to an original androgynous unity.Inspired by Tantric ideas, I focused my attention on the essential characteristics of the "Maithuna" ritual such as worship, exaltation, dynamism, magic, enchantment, wonder the positive emotional charges to try and translate them musically and reveal their cognitive and intelligible properties."Maithuna" is an integral part of my global work called "Anthology of Archaic Rituals In Search of The Center".Alexandre Rabinovitch-BarakovskyDecember 9, 2005************************** **********"MAITHUNA" (octobre 2005)Sinfonia concertante pour orchestreLa signification du rituel "Maithuna" est ambivalente dans l'hindouisme et le bouddhisme tantriques. D'une part, il peut s'agir du rituel sexuel lors duquel la femme est divinisée par son partenaire et, par conséquent, l'acte sexuel revêt la connotation sacralisée. D'autre part, cette divinisation de la femme peut également s'effectuer au niveau virtuel avec la "femme intérieure", partie intégrante du psychisme de l'homme en tant qu'entité androgyne.Selon certaines traditions orientales, c'est la femme qui possède les réserves d'énergie, les forces vitales dont l'homme est dépourvu et sans lesquelles il reste inerte sur le plan créatif. Dans le shivaïsme, le dieu Shiva est habituellement représenté enlacé avec sa part féminine, sa Shakti, grâce à laquelle il devient l'être agissant, dynamique et omnipotent.On peut aussi noter que dans nombre de récits cosmogoniques des diverses traditions, il est question de l'accouplement du ciel et de la terre mythiques. Les accouplements rituels de la grande prêtresse avec le grand prêtre au sommet des ziggourats au Sumer ou du Temple du Ciel en Chine ne faisaient que répéter le premier geste fondateur du couple Terre-Ciel, une sorte de célébration du retour à l'unité androgynique originelle.M'étant inspiré des idées tantriques, j'ai focalisé mon attention sur les caractéristiques essentielles du rituel "Maithuna", telles qu'adoration, exaltation, dynamisme, magie, ensorcellement, émerveillement les charges émotionnelles positives pour essayer de les traduire musicalement et pour rendre manifestes leurs propriétés cognitives et intelligibles."Maithuna" est incorporé dans mon oeuvre globale intitulée "Anthologie des rituels archaïques A la recherche du Centre".Alexandre Rabinovitch-Barakovsky9 décembre 2005
