Burnsville alight with holiday glow
Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz presided at a ceremony this week to turn on the citys holiday lights. In the same spirit, the city is sponsoring the Tenth Anniversary Burnsville Holiday Lighting Contest. As explained at www.burnsville.org, the contest is designed to brighten those long winter evenings by recognizing those neighbors and neighborhoods who decorate in style for the holidays.The nomination period is closed. Judging will take place Dec. 8 in three categories:1. Single-family residences2. Neighborhoods (20 single-family homes or less) and apartment/condo complexes3. Townhomes, duplexes, apartments, or manufactured homesQualifying nominees must be located within Burnsville City limits, displays must be visible from the street, and will show creativity in their presentation. The use of LED lights in displays is encouraged and will be given special consideration in judging. The top three entries in each category will receive gift certificates with cash values of $150, $100, and $50,formal recognition from the Burnsville City Council, and a special anniversary prize.(Video, editing and post-production by Scott Theisen, Sun Newspapers photographer.
