Security Forces seize PuliyankulamThe troops have seized Puliyankulam in Vavuniya following heavy battles..Our Representative in the Wanni battlefront Sujith Vithana Pathirana said that they captured the area this afternoon. Meanwhile, the troops have also released the Aalampil area in the Mullaitivu district. Our Special Representative said that the Second Task Force captured Puliyankulam close to the A-9 road after a lapse of 10 years. A Government school, a divisional secretariat, a health office, an Education Office and other government offices were seen in the area. The LTTE has used this location as an administrative centre. Puliyankulam is located eight kilometres north of the Omanthai check point on the A-9 road. It is located South of Olumadu and Oddusudan. There is a limited distance from this location to the strongholds of Kanagarayankulam, Oddusudan and Nedunkerni. Puliyankulam was captured by the 8th Sinha Regiment, 4th Vijayaba Infantry Regiment and 7th Signals Corp belonging to the Second Task Force under the command of Brig. Rohana Bandara that comes under the 621st Brigade led by Lt. Col. Athula Ariyaratne.
