Really?, i've never gotten into web-based languages, but you can do some pretty neat stuff with them, the internet is where it's at. But I still like to think that standalone exectutables will be here to stay haha, if not, i'll switch to java :P

I do HTML, CSS, PHP with MySQL, so all web based :P Don't worry about those books, if its been published on paper, it' out of date xD

true, and that would kind of suck, I just wish that the transition from one technology to another was a little more cost effective :-)If i'm being honest, i'm more angry at my short-sightedness, not to invest in new tech, but it can be very costly...

C++, I use the SDL library, i've been working on a game engine, and just some other projects. I program at college, but we only really use VBA, which isn't great, so I read a lot of C++ references (thus my pc upgrade/repair/assembly books are gathering dust and are going out of date lol )

If it wasn't for the PC gaming market games would never develop think about it,and Macs are not for gaming simple as that 3 years for a game your video card must be real old
triggerhappy341 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
lol, no worries. What language(s) are you doing?
ProgrammerInProgress (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
fair do's, i've been out of the pc building game for a while, I mainly program now, when I get my hands on £300 (approx) then I will :P it's been a pleasure discussing how lame my computer is haha.

I would say ditch it ;)There's nothing there worth saving really, IDE drives, single core CPU, DDR RAM and AGP. These are all very old technologies so its far more than just your graphics card that needs replacing. You will need to upgrade regardless of whether your playing games or not pretty soon anyway.Oh BTW, shader models, they last years ;)

I Agree

I would, but I honestly couldn't afford it.sure, this is my spec:CPU: pentium 4 (prescott I think) 3.0ghz with HTRAM: 1GB DDR 400GPU: Radeon 9250 256mb (but thats only because my newer card blew out on me, which was a Nvidia 6200 128mb I think)HDD: two IDE hard drives, 40gb and 120gbInternal SoundSo yeah, its a few years old, but it's more than capable of handling most applications (if only at medium settings) (bar the graphics card of course) |
