Feb 1, 2012 - my quick tip would be to try to draw the eyes right on the halfway line of the face, on the horizontal line. Try to draw the eyes smaller and wider too, not so big. That should give you proportions that are older and more adult like. Perhaps it'll be easier to see in a video. I'll add it to my list :) A good topic actually.

Then our little series on proportions will all be done :) I also have another video already edited on drawing a teenager's face-- the kid with the beanie in the intro to my video above. Hmmmm~~ I'll either have that one or the one on Male Proportions: Different Views uploaded Friday morning. I can't decide!

Feb 3, 2012 - nice vid Mike, I've notice Ichigo from Bleach is about 8 - 81/2 heads tall is that normal for a 15 yr old manga character?? I want my character to be about Naruto height but I'm not sure how many heads that would be also what would you say the ages would be for each height proportion?

Feb 3, 2012 - I'm not sure what is normal but if it looks good than I think that's all that matters. There's all kinds of styles to draw characters at a certain age. Some people will draw them really tall-- just thought of Captain Tsubasa-- and it just depends on what you like.I remember trying to figure out Naruto's height myself at one time. Try 5 1/2 heads tall. It seems like he's somewhere in that ballpark. :)4 heads or lower and it reminds me of elementary school age.

Feb 15, 2012 - This helped me alot to get started understanding body proportions for manga style drawings. Question: how can I get the rib part's size to be correct? I used to think that it is about a heads tall at least but by the time I tried to do the 4 headstaller character, it ends up weird to me. Is there any tip to know the right size of the rib part for certain headstalls? Tried to do the ones in the vid and yet I'm bad at accuracy thats why I've been trying to come up certain ways

May 6, 2012 - I made the lines. What you can do is use a composition book (common in high school) and use those lines for your guidelines. Just don't draw in class :P (actually I drew in all my classes kk)
